A long-term customer came to Global Precision Parts when they were experiencing internal product design changes.

After looking at the preliminary prints, the team at Global Precision Parts decided that this was something they wanted to move forward with.

And as the new product line started to grow, Global Precision Parts realized that they needed to upgrade their equipment, increase their throughput, and add capacity, so they decided to segregate a portion of one of their plants specifically for this new product line.

Solution & Process

First, Global Precision Parts moved their entire maintenance department so they could install new equipment to increase their throughput to hit the demands that were required.

Global Precision Parts uses a specific calculation to measure their throughput:

Throughput = Sales Dollars / Hours Worked


The emphasis on measuring throughput as a key performance indicator highlights Global Precision Parts’ dedication to creating a more efficient process to produce higher-quality parts per shift.

18 months later, the new equipment was fully installed and up to speed, producing the new product designs Global Precision Parts’ customer needed to remain competitive.


As a result of this investment in new equipment and new capacity, Global Precision Parts increased their throughput between 200-300%. Consequently, the number of parts they produced for this client went up.
